Please prepare the following for your online singing lesson –
Your lesson will take place on either Zoom or Skype Communication applications. Please download both of these applications onto your desktop.

-After downloading the applications please run a sound and technical check to make sure your application is working. If your computer speakers are not adequate or loud enough you may want to connect your computer to some external speakers for better volume.
-The teacher will confirm what communication application they will be using for your lesson 48 hours prior.
| ▪ | Please Skype friend request your teacher Emily on live:emilysaaen as soon as possible. If the lesson will be on Zoom your teacher will send you an invitation via email. |
| ▪ | Your teacher may prior to your 1st lesson book a 5-minute introduction. This is to soundcheck, EQ(to make sure there is no feedback and to get levels correct when singing, playing songs and doing scales) and to check the quality of the connection. |
| ▪ | Be in a well light room where you can sing to a good volume. |
| ▪ | Stand when in your lesson when you are singing or doing scales |
| ▪ | Have your camera at head height so you are looking directly into the camera at eye level. |
| ▪ | Stand 1 to 2 feet away from the camera. |
| ▪ | Have a room temperature bottle of water handy during your lesson. |
| ▪ | Have a notebook, pen or something to take down notes with during your lesson. |
| ▪ | You are welcome to record your entire lesson on Skype or Zoom. |
| ▪ | Your teacher would like to hear you sing so please prepare a verse and a chorus of a song that you know the lyrics to and is in a comfortable key for your voice. You may sing your song a-cappella (unaccompanied), along with the original artist, with a backing track or acoustically. |
-In your future lessons, your teacher EMILY will work on vocal scale exercises customised to your voice and genre. The scales will be recorded for you to practice at home and with regular and consistent practice will greatly improve your voice.
We encourage you to work on songs in class that you enjoy singing as long as the songs are in a suitable key for your voice. Your teacher will let you know if the songs you choose not suitable for your vocal range.
You will be taught correct diaphragmatic breathing and if you wish other skills such as microphone technique, stage presentation, overcoming performance anxiety, Industry advice and songwriting.
