Now that you have mastered part 1 in February addition. We will now run through the scale. Directly below is a basic description of what your mouth should be doing on all the vowels.
# Please remember the cardinal rule when singing this scale and this applies to singing of all songs as well VSA analogy “less down low/ more up top”. What this means is you’ll use less diaphragmatic support, have smaller mouth placements and use less volume when you are singing down lower in your range. But when you are singing up higher in your range you’ll use it more diaphragmatic support, have larger more over-exaggerated mouth placements to make you sound nicer.If you’re playing this scale on the keyboard, Play a single note and sing the first vowel of Air(Relaxed mouth shape), stop and relax your mouth, then play the next single note in the same key and sing the next vowel of See (Round mouth shape) and so on until you complete all five vowels. Please be sure to start this scale in the lower part of your range and workup by tones or semitones until you get into the higher part of your range. Please remember that this scale is specifically designed for articulation, pronunciation and diction and it is not designed to expand your range higher so please do the scale in a registered that is comfortable for yourself.
I can guarantee you if you practice this scale 5 to 6 times a week, in 5-10 weeks, your mouth will start to go to the right vowel mouth placement shapes and sounds subconsciously without you thinking about it or your sound, that’s why this is the most important singing exercise you can do to sound great.

Robert “Rob” Mills actor, television host and Australian singer-songwriter best known as one of the finalists from Australian Idol (season 1). He was a co-host on the late-night quiz show The Mint as well as a regular singer on the game show The Singing Bee both on the Nine Network. He has starred on Dancing With The Stars and Celebrity Apprentice. In 2008, Mills won the coveted lead male role of Fiyero in the hugely successful production of Wicked and continued the role when it moved to around Australia. He has since starred in a number of popular large scale musical theatre productions. In 2012, Mills was announced as the host of Network Ten’s revamped Young Talent Time, a show considered an icon of Australian television.

Rob attended singing lessons at Vox Singing Academy under the guidance of director and principal teacher Peter Vox before and during his appearance on Australian idol. Rob worked incredibly hard with Peter Vox on his singing voice during and especially after Australian idol to take his voice and dancing to the next level.
Rob was a contestant for the first series of Australian Idol and he made the top 3. He performed on “Rise Up”, the #1 Australian single performed by all the Australian finalists in 2003 was certified as Gold by Aria. Mills performed the song “Dirty Girl” on the double platinum album Australian Idol: Final 12 soundtrack released in October 2003.
His debut album “Up All Night” debuted at number 21 on the Aria charts and his debut single from that album “Ms Vanity” (possibly written about his fling with Paris Hilton) debuted at number 6 on the Aria charts certifing as gold.
Musical theatre
In 2005, Mills toured Australia in Grease – The Arena Spectacular as Johnny Casino alongside an all star cast with Craig McLachlan, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Magda Szubanski & John Farnham.
In May 2007, Mills appeared as the lead role of Claude in the sold out Perth production of the rock musical Hair along with Cosima De Vito and Nikki Webster. The production was directed by Chris Kabay and musically directed by Simon Holt of Yellow Glass Theatre.
Mills then originated the coveted lead male role of Fiyero in the Australian production of the Broadway musical Wicked. The show opened on 12 July
2008, in Melbourne where it ran for 13 months, closing on 9 August 2009. It then transferred to Sydney from 12 September. He originally starred oppostie Lucy Durack as Glinda, Amanda Harrison as Elphaba and the late Rob Guest as The Wizard. Mills played his final performance on 6 June
From 13–30 July 2011, Rob played the role of Jamie in Jason Robert Brown’s musical “The Last Five Years” at Sydney’s Seymour Centre.
In March 2012, it was announced that Mills will play Warner Huntington III in the Australian production of Legally Blonde, which also starred his Wicked co-star Lucy Durack as the main character, Elle Woods.The Australian production season began in September 2012 at the Lyric Theatre, Sydney, before opening on 4 October 2012. It then went on to play at the Lyric Theatre in Brisbane from March 2013. It then opened in Melbourne at the Princess Theatre in May 2013.
In 2013, Mills played the role of Danny in the Australian tour of Grease, which began performances October 2013 at Sydney’s Lyric Theatre, has travelled all around Australia, which finished its run doing a second season in Melbourne at Her Majesty’s Theatre. The show closed in late January 2015.
In August 2015 Mills joined Swing on This, a quartet of musical theatre stars which includes Michael Falzon, Matt Lee, Luke Kennedy and Ben Mingay.Swing on This perform contemporary swing in a predominantly cabaret format.
In 2015, Mills toured with his Cabaret show ‘Surprisingly Good’, playing in cabaret festivals in Melbourne, Noosa, Sydney, Mackay and Brisbane.
In 2016, Mills will play ‘Corny Collins’ in Brisbane’s leading Musical Theatre Company, Harvest Rain, Arena Spectacular version of Hairspray. He will then take on the leading role of ‘Sam’ in the Australian Premier of ‘Ghost the Musical’
Robert has an amazing loving and giving personality and donates a lot of his time to numerous charities and is a regular guest performer at Carols by Candlelight. Robert is also an avid AFL football fan following and supporting the Hawthorne Hawks.
2017 saw Rob play the role of Jesus Christ in The Production Company‘s revival of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice rock opera, Jesus Christ Superstar. The production was staged at Arts Centre Melbourne from 29 July to 13 August.
He began playing teacher Finn Kelly on Neighbours in 2017, and was promoted to the regular cast in 2019.

Brigette’s interest in singing and the performing arts began at 6 years of age in primary school, where she first started taking singing lessons, singing in a youth choir, and performing in school productions. When she was eight years old, she performed alongside Australian children’s entertainer, Peter Combe.
In high-school she played major roles in amateur theatre productions, such as Pan the Man and Jesus Christ Superstar. It was here that she won her schools 2007 Performing Arts Award. During this time, Brigette continued taking singing and dance lessons with Performing Arts Headquarters as well as facilitating classes in her local Karate dojo.
Over the last few years she has been working extensively as an industry mentor, working with Headspace to help young people enter the workforce. As someone who is committed to helping people realise their goals, Brigette is dedicated when assisting Vox students understand their singing ambitions and guiding a pathway to their success.
