I am really excited about this blog because if you want to become a better singer, you need to read this because I am going to give you the big secret about being a great singer straightaway and it is pretty easy! Okay? Let’s cut straight to the chase.
If you wanted to become a better singer, focus on the last word of the phrase – this word needs to be sung great all of the time. So write this down and get a pen. “Do not drift, slide or deflate on the last word or note of the phrase that you are singing”.
Let me give you an example here, try to pick a song and sing the first 95% of a line very well and then go and deflate sing off on the last word, this is going to make the whole line not sound great because you are going to be judged on the whole line by the last thing that they heard.
Now, try to reverse that… work the last word and make it sound great. Let me give you another example here, try to again pick a song and sing the first 95% of a line not that well but work the last two words in the line and sing are those two words great… And then you’ll notice it made the rest of the line sound pretty good even though you didn’t sing the first 95% of it that well – because again, the listener will be judging you from the last word of the phrase. So, please always work the last word of the phrase.
Now I am going to give you a very important scale here now which is going to be a major 5th going up which is like you’re singing the phrase or the line of the song and then hold the last note out for two seconds which is like holding the last word of the song – we’re going to hold this you last note straight.
